Inauguration of the triple sports hall Kantonsschule Wettingen

On September 7, 2018, the new triple sports hall of the Kantonsschule Wettingen was inaugurated. The new building used since the beginning of school supplements the existing sports infrastructure and guarantees optimal conditions of use for schools and associations.

With a sporty framed celebration in the presence of Government Councilor Alex Hürzeler, Government Councilor Dr. Ing. Markus Dieth and Rector Paul Zübli were officially inaugurated in the afternoon by the canton of Aargau's new three-sport sports hall for the Kantonsschule Wettingen.

The unique underground structure on the outskirts of the monastery peninsula consists of a sports hall that can be divided into three separate halls, a foyer and six communal dressing rooms. In addition, rooms for teachers, handicapped accessible changing rooms as well as various ancillary rooms were realized. The new building adjoins the existing underground sports halls. As a result, the view is free on the national heritage listed monastery Wettingen. The outdoor sports facilities were restored.

The creation of a triple sports hall was urgently needed. As a result of the strong growth in student numbers, the sports hall capacity of the Kantonsschule Wettingen was already overloaded in 2005, so that the school had to rent a temporary solution in the Tägerhard-Halle. In addition, the outdated sports hall in the monastery complex no longer met today's requirements. "From today on, there will be nothing left in the way of physical education at a state-of-the-art and school-oriented infrastructure", says Alex Hürzeler, Landammann and Sports Director of Canton Aargau.
